Beth Ledy is a Play for P.I.N.K. National Advisory Board member and finding a cure for breast cancer is her mission.
I had cancer for which there was a cure and want this for others as well. The community in Millbrook, New York has built a strong network of support and everyone looks forward to the event, which keeps us motivated. It has also been a learning experience for me on many levels, especially this year, which I value. With so many restrictions in place, we pivoted to a virtual event which was an overwhelming success and so well received by all. In addition to having fun, the event also provides cutting edge knowledge to our audience and hearing from a PFP-funded researcher is very satisfying for all. Each participant learns exactly where their donation is going and feels a sense of pride knowing they are making a difference. Being a two-time cancer survivor, I empathize a great deal with the issues and all the unknowns of treatment and life after cancer. In addition, my husband and his family have the BRCA gene which heightens our concern and awareness of the disease.
