P.I.N.K. All Star – Karen Whitney

After being introduced to Play for P.I.N.K. years ago, Karen Whitney decided to organize a fundraiser at her club in Massachusetts.  Please read Karen’s story below:

Many years ago, I participated in a golf tournament at a local private club in Falmouth, MA.   This was my first introduction to the Play for P.I.N.K. organization and I was impressed that 100% of the profits raised were for breast cancer research. In 2011, I decided to bring this event to my club, The Woods Hole Golf Club.  The members embraced the idea and it is now an event for all female golf and tennis members and their guests. My committee is small and each year we try to find new innovative ways to raise additional funds.

I have many friends who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and unfortunately some of them have not survived. I think that one can say that almost everyone has been touched in some way by this disease and raising funds for this organization has been personally very rewarding.  I love to receive feedback from participants who tell me that they enjoy being part of this event whether it is volunteering or playing golf or tennis. This feedback stimulates my enthusiasm each year.

I have enjoyed working with the Play for P.I.N.K. organization. They have been very supportive, and they help to make my job relatively easy.  I look forward to another successful event next year!
