Pros for P.I.N.K. – Stonebridge Country Club
Jeff Hall from Stonebridge Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida has been involved with Play for P.I.N.K. for more than a decade. We can think of no one more deserving to be this month’s Pro for P.I.N.K.
I have been organizing Play for P.I.N.K. events for over 10 years and have seen how gracious everyone can be when it comes to a disease that affects so many. It’s personal to me because numerous family members have gone through countless hours of treatments to try and beat breast cancer.
Every year we make an effort to involve the entire community to help raise money for a great cause by hosting events everyone can enjoy: tennis, pickleball, cards, miniature golf, basketball tournament, dunk the pros dunk tank, dog show, golf ball launcher closest to the pin contest, raffle items, silent and live auction as well as a 50/50. We look to increase our donation by getting golf carts, vacations, autographed memorabilia and whatever big tickets items we can for the live auction. I have found that auctions are a very effective way to raise a lot of money in a short time.
Our basic fundraising strategy are Play for P.I.N.K. Packages: the Silver Sports Package, Gold Golf Package and Platinum Pink Package. The Silver Sports Package includes all of the events on Sunday, which we like to call the Play for P.I.N.K. Activity Day. The day starts with a Walk/Run/Bike/Cart around the 2.2- mile Stonebridge Circle, which leads into tennis, pickleball, basketball, dunk tank, dog show, face painting and much more. The Gold Golf Package includes two mulligans, a Miracle Putt, Shot from the Pro, Beat the Pro on a Par 3, Raffle Tickets and a Tee Sign. The Platinum Pink Package is the combination of the Silver and Golf Packages. The packages help us raise more money by allowing members to write one check and being able to participate in all of the wonderful events. Our goal is to get every member and guest who are in town to come out and have a great time. The more fun they have, the more money we raise.
The way to increase participation is kind of obvious – involve the men. Aside from wanting to support the women in their lives, men are susceptible to breast cancer as well as prostate cancer. When our Stonebridge men come out for the Play for P.I.N.K. event, they wear blue.
This is my favorite event of the year. To help raise money for a great cause that affects so many is a blessing. It takes an entire country and even the entire world to help beat this awful disease. I find it extremely satisfying to know that when the members of Stonebridge Play for P.I.N.K. they’re raising money for vital, life-saving research.
