Pros for P.I.N.K. – Mallard Creek Golf Club

Mallard Creek Golf Club in Columbia Station, Ohio has been hosting a Play for P.I.N.K. tournament for nearly twenty years.  In addition to the dedicated chairwomen and committee members, we are grateful to their Pro, Matt Scullin, for supporting our work.  We are pleased to feature his story this month:

I’ve had friends and family who have fought the good fight against cancer. Mostly, all won. My Grandmother, appropriately nicknamed Sassy, was a breast cancer survivor. I remember being a young kid and thinking the worst when her diagnosis came through. Being a kid and hearing the word cancer is a super scary thing. I never realized that some of the work that I do would end up helping in the fight against cancer. It’s pretty cool to be a part of it all.

Last year we grew our outing from 40 people to 120. We did it by simply asking friends and family members to get their own group. Instead of playing with your normal golf group ask someone to join that might not normally play in your event. Use your circle of influence as much as you can and don’t be afraid to ask people for help. When a great cause like this is involved, they almost always stand and deliver!

“Feel good” doesn’t even begin to describe my experience working with these women. You know you are working with a special group of people when you see how much love and care they put into this event. When you see participants smiling from ear to ear. And when the things that they do and the words they say give you chills. This day is special – to them. And me.
