Pros for P.I.N.K. – Ardsley Country Club
The reason so many people support Play for P.I.N.K. hit home for Jim Bender, this month’s Pro for P.I.N.K. from Ardsley Country Club in Westchester County, New York, was in 2012 when his sister-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then, she has battled back and thankfully, is now in remission. Here is Jim’s story:
Aside from entry fees, Ardsley raises money at the club’s Play for P.I.N.K. event through raffles, mulligans, miracle putts, hole sponsor signs, a silent auction with donated prizes, a Par 3 Contest, and Play for P.I.N.K. merchandise such as hat clips and visors. Everyone contributes in one way or another, making this not only a fun day, but a successful fund-raising day.
Along with Ardsley’s Play for P.I.N.K. committee, we’ve been discussing ways to do even better, such as trying to increase participation by pairing up individual men and women so it’s more than just couples playing in the event. We’re also going to expand our outreach and offer raffle chances to all members, not just those who play in the event.
For me, Play for P.I.N.K. is a good/feel good event. Aside from my own family’s experience, I hear stories from others that not only inspire, but also offer hope that one day, there will be a cure for cancer.
