Pros for P.I.N.K. – Shaker Heights Country Club

I am Drew Pierson, Director of Golf at Shaker Heights Country Club in the Cleveland suburb of Shaker Heights, OH. On September 14th, I played 100 holes of golf in support of Play for P.I.N.K. and made the decision to embark on this golf marathon to help raise money for a wonderful cause. Cancer is a disease that in some way, directly or indirectly, has impacted almost everyone, including members of my own family. I am happy to say all have survived.

Once I announced my intention to play 100 holes, I was grateful to receive tremendous encouragement and support from the Shaker Heights membership. Members had an opportunity to sponsor me based on total holes played plus an additional amount per birdie made. I played 100 holes and made 18 birdies.

People came out and watched. They cheered me along. Some rode with me. Many raised their pledges during the event to keep me determined and focused. Although I admit I was very tired afterwards, it was an amazing experience. And a lot of fun!

I plan on playing 100 holes again next season. Considering the attention this got during and after the event, I wouldn’t be surprised if next year we doubled the monies raised. If we build on word of mouth and add some extra advertising I feel confident our donation to Play for P.I.N.K. will increase.

I encourage other professionals to give this a try and encourage their memberships to support those efforts. Remember, every little bit counts! Every hole counts.
