Pros for P.I.N.K. – St. Andrews Country Club
Our January Pro for P.I.N.K. is Paul Clivio, Director of Golf at St. Andrews Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida. We are proud to feature his story, which shares why raising money for breast cancer research is so meaningful to his family.
My sister-in-law has been battling this awful disease for more than 20 years and has somehow stayed alive. Most doctors who see her records can’t believe she has survived all this time, but her will is so strong…. she is my hero!
We collect monies for our Play for P.I.N.K. event in a lot of different ways. We sell various small items like towels, tees, hats, and much, much more. Of course, we sell mulligans and hole signs. We do Closest to the Line and Closest to Pins. This year we added a special contest for hitting inside the P.I.N.K. circle on a par 3. Also, we sold golf course sponsorships. To create even more revenue, we added a Play for P.I.N.K. Men’s day. We host it the day after our ladies, running the exact same event.
If I were to offer any suggestions to my fellow Pros and other P.I.N.K. Chairs, it would be to get the men at your club involved. It’s found income for your event. Last year between hole sponsor, entry fees, and course sponsorship we raised an extra $8,000 and this year we should get over the $10,000 mark.
Play for P.I.N.K. is always a feel good/do good time for me. I look forward to running these events and making them grow each year. Not only does it make me feel great, but it makes the membership feel great as well. I am so proud of the women who work tirelessly to raise funds for life-saving research.
